Pine University encompasses our wide array of clinics and outings offered year round at Pine Mountain Sports. For those who are interested in getting outdoors and on the trails by way of mountain bike or skis – we’d love to help get you started on Your Path to Higher Level Recreation.

2014 DIRT DIVAS WOMEN’S MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDES – FREE

Meet at Pine Mountain Sports for a women’s-only group mountain bike ride. We’ll divide into groups based on riding levels and pedal to the trails from the shop. Each group will have a ride leader and a designated sweep. Each group will decide its route and ride time based on the needs of the group. Riders in your group will wait for each other and regroup at each trail intersection. All ages and skill levels are welcome and nobody is left behind. Trek and Santa Cruz mountain bike demos are free for the evening on a first-come, first-served basis. If you wish to demo a bike, please arrive 30 minutes early and show credit card and drivers license. No RSVP required. Call 541-385-8080 for questions.

Being able to repair you mountain bike on the trail will keep you safe and confident on long rides. The beginners clinic is taught in the workshop after hours and will cover will cover the basics including flat tire repairs, caring for your chain, and basic maintenance. We will also address your special requests as time permits. No need to bring your bicycle. RSVP required; 10 people per session. Call 541-385-8080 to register.

 

BICYCLE REPAIR CLINIC, ADVANCED – FREE

Building on the foundation of our beginning bicycle repair clinic, the advanced clinic is taught in the workshop after hours and will cover adjustments and maintenance starting with derailleurs and disc brakes. DIRT DIVAS COG WILD SHUTTLE – $10

Dirt Divas is offering three shuttles from the shop with Cog Wild. Shuttle rides are limited to 12 riders. June 2 will be a beginners ride from Skyliner Sno-Park. July 21 will be an intermediate ride from Wanoga. Aug 18 will be an advanced ride from Dutchman. RSVP and pre-payment of $10 required. Call 541-385-8080 to register.

DIRT DIVAS NIGHTS: IN-STORE CLINICS – FREE

In addition to our Dirt Divas women’s mountain bike rides Pine Mountain Sports Dirt Divas events cover all facets of mountain biking with a variety of free monthly events and specialized clinics. Dirt Diva events are presented in an approachable way for women of all abilities. You must RSVP for all in-store clinics. Call us at 541-385-8080.

April 30: Mountain Biking 101
This evening is designed as an introductory informational session for women who want to know more about mountain biking, or are looking to feel more confident discussing mountain bikes in the shop. We’ll cover topics including different bikes, our trail system and proper trail etiquette. Boost your mountain bike knowledge and confidence.

May 28: Hands-On Bike Maintenance
Bring your bike and learn how to keep it running smoothly! Learn how to clean and take care of your bike between rides, repair a broken chain on the trail, and how to fix a flat tire. This popular clinic is taught on the lawn at Pine Mountain Sports. Repeats on July 23.

June 25: Boost Your Ride
Boost your ride by learning tips and tricks for healthy nutrition, mental and physical endurance, injury recovery and training. We’ll have guest speakers from Hammer Nutrition and Humm Kombucha answering your questions about what to drink and eat (and avoid) when riding. RSVP required.

July 23: Hands-On Bike Maintenance (repeat of May 28)
Bring your bike and learn how to keep it running smoothly! Learn how to clean and take care of your bike between rides, repair a broken chain on the trail, and how to fix a flat tire. This popular clinic is taught on the lawn at Pine Mountain Sports.

July 30: Gear Night
Your kit from head to toe. This very popular event covers everything from flat vs. clip less pedals, helmet options, hydration pack options, cycling apparel and outerwear. You name it, we cover it. Let us help you figure out which options are best for your type of riding.

Aug 27: Yoga for Mountain Bikers
Join us for a free yoga session at the shop with local adventure racer and yoga enthusiast Chelsey Magness. The class will focus on poses and stretches to help you prepare for and recover from your mountain bike rides.

Sep 24: MTB First Aid & Safety Awareness
Join us for an educational evening about staying safe out on the trails. We’ll get a basic first aid overview from some of our local SAR volunteers, as well as tips and tricks for how to avoid getting lost out there. We’ll cover what to do if you realize you are lost, and some of the common things the SAR volunteers encounter when situations arise in the wilderness.

 

2014 GRIT CLINICS RIDING CLINICS
May 3-4 / June 28-29 : Weekend-Long Women’s Riding Camps – $250

Grit Clinics are a two-day, on-the-bike mountain bike skills clinic for women only, taught by the local women of GritClinics.com. Grit Clinics provide supportive coaching to beginner and intermediate female mountain bikers and are designed to increase confidence on the trail by teaching participants to improve and refine their bike handling skills.

Grit Clinics is offering two, 2 day clinics this spring. Morning sessions will focus on bike handling skills and basic bike maintenance. Newly learned skills will be put into action on the trails during the afternoon sessions. Aug 23-24 : Weekend-Long Co-Ed Riding Camps at Mt. Bachelor Bike Park – $325

AllRide and Grit Clinics have teamed up to present the Mt. Bachelor Co-Ed Mt Bike Skills Clinic. Come learn from some of the best instructors around! The goal of this 2 day co-ed clinic is to increase your confidence in the new Mt. Bachelor Bike Park and improve & refine bike handling skills on classic Bend trails.

Day 1 of the clinic will be spent at the Mt. Bachelor Bike Park developing skills and taking advantage of the lift access trails on Mt. Bachelor to hone those skills. Day 2 will start with a refresher session in the morning and an afternoon instructional ride on Bend single track.  Clinic includes Mt. Bachelor lift ticket and skills center ticket, scrumptious lunches each day, after ride happy hour and 2 full days of mountain bike instruction.
